Power transmission system being upgraded to reduce line losses: Asif

Islamabad ,Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that power transmission system is being upgraded in order to reduce line and transmission losses.

Addressing a function at IESCO Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday, he said line losses are a big issue and the power distribution companies should remain vigilant to it.

The Minister categorically stated that the areas which are not paying bills will be de-electrified. He said six to eight hours of load shedding is currently being carried out and the areas which are experiencing 15-18 hours of power outages is due to power pilferage.

Khawaja Asif said industrial sector has been exempted from the load shedding.

Regretting the killing of two IESCO officials at Sohan, the Minister said the officials rendered their lives in the line of duty and those involved in the incident will be apprehended.
