Balochistan govt allocates over Rs. 29 billion under PSDP 2011-12

QUETTA: Balochistan government has allocated Rs. 29.127 billion under its Public Sector Development Programme (PDSP) for financial year 2011-12. Speaking during the provincial assembly session with Speaker Mir Aslam Bhutani in chair here on Tuesday, provincial Finance minister Mir Asim Kurd Galu said the province would also receive Rs. 2.225 and Rs. 0.016 million under Foreign Project Assistance and Cash Assistance (Japanese Grants) respectively during the next financial year.
Referring to communications and works sector, he said about 499 new schemes had been identified by the public representatives which would cost Rs. 25.64 billion besides 101 ongoing schemes of the sector which would be completed at a cost of Rs. 8 billion.
He said Rs. 418 million has been allocated for 89 schemes in irrigation sectors in the provincial  budget 2011-12 while 20 new delay action dams in parts of the province would be completed with financial assistance of the federal government.
Besides, Balochistan Small Scale Irrigation Project worth Rs. 1.5 billion would be implemented under World Bank grant which on completion would bring about 1500 acres of land under cultivation in Pishin district.
He said the provincial government has allocated Rs. 3 billion for Agriculture sector in addition to Rs. 4 billion on the part of federal government for this sector.
Out of the allocated amount Rs. 2 billion would be spent on providing subsidy on electricity bills of tube-wells being used for agriculture purposes in the province and remaining amount would be utilized for completing ongoing and new schemes of Agriculture sector.
About Public Health Engineering sector, the minister said Rs. 4  billion has been allocated for 80 ongoing and new schemes in this sector in the provincial budget 2011-12.
